Mayfest 2022: Callout for Short Performance Films

As part of this year’s Mayfest ( 13th – 29th May) we are keen to hear from Bristol-based artists who are primarily live performance-makers but who have stretched their wings into film territory over the last couple of years. Interpret that as you will.

We are dedicating an evening to celebrating some of the beautiful new adventures that performance-makers have taken into film-making since the advent of the pandemic.

We know that for some this has happened out of necessity, some through curiosity, for some a way to make sense of a silence and for some it marks the beginnings of a different way of creating and sharing with new audiences.

We’re going to put on a night dedicated to screening some of this delicious stuff.

What are we looking for:

We are looking for between 3 - 4 new film works of no longer than 15 minutes

How do I apply?

Please provide a link to the film and in written or audio format:

-       A short summary of the film

-       A short bio about yourself

-       Why you would like to share the work as part of Mayfest

Written submissions should be no longer than ~250 words and if you would like to submit in alternative format please feel free to do so.

Are you looking for particular styles or stories?

No, we want to respond to what you’ve made, but it is important that it is rooted in performance.

What are you offering in return?

We will offer a screening fee of £75 and a full festival pass to all selected artists.

Please send your proposal to matthewandkate@mayk.org.uk with the subject line ‘Mayfest 2022 short film submission’

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 16 March
